Evolv™ solution and Pushlok™ connectors: Corning breaks new ground for fast and easy FTTX deployments

Find out more about all the technologies used in Corning's Evolv™ FTTx solutions in this article, as well as two case studies putting them into practice.
Pushlok™ technology: push, click and connect
Pushlok™ technology is a major innovation that supports the growing demand for connection and bandwidth. These reinforced connectors allow a connector to be connected "in a click". Its installation thus requires minimal hardware and technical knowledge and allows for easy and quick deployment. For simplified network management, Pushlok™ technology is also compatible with Corning's OptiTap® ports.
Whether deployed overhead or underground, Pushlok™ technology meets all applications. Its unprecedented compactness offers network operators an optimisation of infrastructure costs, but also to reuse existing infrastructure, even when saturated.
A single FTTx solution for all applications
By using a single solution, the risks associated with a faulty installation are limited. The technical understanding of a single technology allows field engineers to evolve in a known and mastered context with simplified training.
Corning also innovates in the design of the Evolv™ solution, which offers multiple installation possibilities:
- On the facade, in complete discretion
- Overhead
- Underground, even in saturated rooms
- In a cabinet, to reuse existing infrastructure
The compactness and versatility of the solution not only saves space in terms of infrastructure, but also in terms of storage space by managing only a limited number of drop cables and terminals with optimised formats.
Evolv™ terminals and connectors: both compact and durable
The Evolv™ solution connectors and terminals offer increased strength and performance equivalent to products in Corning's reinforced connector range. They have been reduced in size to provide more installation options, but also to enable telecommunication networks to go even further. Certified IP68, connectors with Pushlok™ technology have been tested and confronted with the real conditions of installation environments in accordance with the standards in force (freeze/thaw, immersion, pressure, waterproofing, ...). To go further, discover the case studies published by Corning, where the Evolv™ solution has been implemented to meet specific demands of fibre optic network deployment.

[United Kingdom] Openreach impressed by Corning’s solution
Openreach, a subsidiary of BT Group, is the UK's largest telecommunications network builder. When deploying optical networks, Openreach uses the Evolv™ solution primarily as the Terminal Connection Block (TCB), which is the last point in the network. The CBT is used to distribute fibre to the customer's home. The ease of implementation of this "Plug and Play" solution and its discreet design were particularly attractive to the Operator. Thanks to the fact that it takes up four times less space than conventional terminals, it can be deployed discreetly on the facades of private customers or even on listed monuments.

[France] La Nuit de l'Erdre Festival: an immersive experience thanks to Evolv™ and Pushlok™ technology
The Evolv™ solution finds its place everywhere, even where it is least expected. The organisation of La Nuit de l’Erdre Festival, a reference in the French music festival landscape, has significant needs in terms of speed (real-time broadcasting of concerts on a giant screen, mass exchange of video and audio files, ...). The festival therefore decided to create its own optical loop in order to optimise the performance of data transmission and interconnect all the equipment.
